A Smart Intercom Story
The Situation – A Multifamily residential building located in the upper west side was in the process of installing new custom front doors. The landlord was in the market for a new, reliable and secure intercom system that allowed tenants flexibility when “buzzing” visitors in.
The Solution – The solution for this project was to install a new Akuvox R29C with indoor C313 wireless monitors. Some of the features included, facial recognition, fob key entry, ability to open the door via indoor monitors, app, or landline.
The Results – A smart intercom system helps keep residents out of unwanted visitors and unexpected events at home. With 30 days of picture events and a plethora of security features, this was the perfect end result for this project.
An Access Control Story
The Situation – A property management company owns multiple apartment buildings in NYC. They faced a problem every time a tenant moved in or out. Specifically with fob keys for the access control system are not handed over by the old tenants. This created a potential security risk.
The Solution – The solution here was to install multiple Akuvox cloud-based smart A01 fob readers. This allowed the property manager to monitor and control all RF cards from an all-in-one web management portal, which Akuvox specially designed for property personnel.
The Results – The property management company is very satisfied with the solution. Property management is made easy with everything on the cloud. Not only were they able to assign and remove RF cards, but also see logs of all entries in the cloud based portal.

The Situation – The board of a CO-OP located in Brooklyn was frustrated with recent events around the neighborhood. The building was committed to provide tenants with a safe environment, as well as a reliable Security surveillance system.
The Solution – A combination of 25 Invid bullet, turret and dome security cameras were installed in the interior and exterior of the building. A dedicated NVR with local storage and POE network switch were provided to power up the cameras and store all recorded data.
The Results – The solution measured up to the expectation of the board. The surveillance system enhances the building’s value and operational efficiency. In the first three months after the deployment of the solution, the number of unwanted visitors and strangers were greatly reduced. Tenants feel a greater sense of security and safety
A Mailbox Story
The Situation – The buildings mailboxes were broken and needed to be fixed. Unfortunately, they were beyond repair. Package theft was also a huge problem with these small vertical style mailboxes.
The Solution – Mailboxes are one of the most overlooked, yet important pieces of property maintenance. Installing the current USPS approved line of mailboxes provides the most secure way of receiving letters and small packages
The Results – Academy supplied a new mailbox system complete with parcel lockers. The mailboxes are installed in a custom wood cabinet. The mailboxes are secure and the building is now USPS compliant.
